چکیده

Packet sequence disruption caused by route optimization may result in degradation of mobile TCP/IP performance. In this paper, we propose an analytic model to investigate the impact of route optimization on out-of-order packet delivery in Mobile IP networks. When a mobile node (MN) moves to a new location, the packets sent from the corresponding node (CN) to the MN are routed indirectly through the home agent (HA). After route optimization, the subsequent packets will be sent from the CN to the MN directly. Let p be a packet traveling through the triangle path to the MN (via the HA), and q be the first packet sent via the optimized path to the MN. Packet p is sent from the CN earlier than q is. We derive the probability that packet p arrives at the MN later than packet q does, and validate the analytic model by simulation experiments. Our simulation experiments are extended to investigate how the transmission delay distributions affect the probability of out-of-order delivery. The results provide a guideline in adjusting the routing priority of binding updates to improve the end-to-end network performance. 2004 Elsevier Inc. Energy Efficient Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Using Honey Bee Mating Optimization

Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...

A Secure Routing Algorithm for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks

Recently, underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) attracted the interest of many researchers and the past three decades have held the rapid progress of underwater acoustic communication. One of the major problems in UWSNs is how to transfer data from the mobile node to the base stations and choosing the optimized route for data transmission. Secure routing in UWSNs is necessary for packet d...

Improving TCP Performance by Packet Buffering in Mobile IP Based Networks

It is well–known that TCP often experiences severe performance degradation in mobile networks since due to host mobility, packet losses not related to network congestion occur frequently. In this paper, we propose a buffering of packets at a base station to resolve such a problem. Our method can be used without sacrificing the scalability in Mobile IP based networks. For this purpose, we first ...
